Travel Essentials 2016

A Guide for Getting Through the Holiday Travel Mania

It’s important to have the right gear when traveling from state to state or country to country. Here are some must-haves. (Not sponsored… I just like all of this stuff)

1. Headphones

Sony Premium Noise Cancelling, Bluetooth Headphone, Black (MDR1000X/B)

Sony recently stepped their game up to challenge Bose for the best Bluetooth noise canceling headphones. I would say Sony won because these headphones come with some very cool features. Don’t believe me? Check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nk-iQ3Ys8HU

2. International Adapter

Need to charge your phone, laptop and camera? Best to have the right adapter for the job no matter where you are. (Check on amazon… prices are usually good) https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=travel+adapter

3. Camera

I personally use a Canon 5D Mark III, but I have used many other cameras throughout the years. Each camera I enjoyed for different reasons, but as they say, the best camera is the one in your pocket. If you know how to get the most out of a shot you can produce some stunning images on any budget or camera for that matter.

4. Credit Card

It’s always good to have a little bit of cash on you when you travel, but you may want to get a credit card that doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees. Most travel cards offer points that can be redeemed for flights, hotel stays and more. So put some of your big ticket items on the travel card and let the points accumulate. Just make sure you're able to pay off the card. It's no fun being in extreme credit card debt. (PRO TIP: Beware of the annual fee. Make sure you’re willing to pay the annual amount before applying)

5. Cool Bag (Herschel)

Get a day bag that is stylish but doesn't look like a camera bag (I try to stay on the DL when in new areas). I use a DSLR padded camera insert to protect my gear as I move about. The bag above is a Herschel bag. I find they are stylish and rugged enough to handle almost anything. The great thing about this company is that the bags don't cost an arm and a leg. They also have many styles to match what you're into.

6. Laptop

This is optional. For some travels, it’s best you leave the office behind and bring a book. I use an Apple laptop. I know some people don't like Apple laptops, but their products work well for me. I like using final cut to bring my film projects together and I like how the laptops are designed. To some that is a silly thing to like, but if you're willing to pay for it why not have a powerful laptop with great design?

7. Shave Kits

Stay cool and collected while keeping up appearances. No need to look a mess while you travel. I constantly keep my head hair down to a low buzz. Though when traveling it gets harder to maintain the low buzz (I think I look best with short hair). So having the right shaving tools is a necessity when I travel.

8. Book

No real explanation needed here. I tend to pick up psychology/ self-help books or fiction. Just bring along something that can help spark the imagination.

So that's my travel essentials for this year! Go out and have fun!
